I-ready is our universal screener. Each year in August, students in Kindergarten – 8th Grade take a diagnostic test on their school issued Chromebook which measures their reading and math levels. Students are given a grade level placement and a score for both reading and math. Based on this placement and score, the students are given personalized and adaptive lessons which they complete during the week. Adaptive means that as students are successful completing the lessons, the lessons become more challenging. As students experience struggles in completing lessons, the lessons become a little easier.
Students are given a diagnostic three times during the school year – August, January, and May. Each time the students’ lessons are reset based on the new diagnostic results. It is our hope that students increase their score and their grade level placement after each diagnostic test. It is our school wide goal that all students be scoring at grade level. Teachers may choose to track and celebrate growth and progress in unique ways. We encourage you to ask your child for updates on how they are doing on I-ready.
