Parent Code of Conduct
“Let all that you do be done in love.” – I Corinthians 16:14
Bethlehem Lutheran School seeks to provide a quality, safe, Christ-centered education characterized by students loving, caring, and excelling in all areas of development. By God’s grace and blessing, students are supported in achieving these goals through a mutual partnership between school and parents based on the foundation, understanding and practice of unity, Christian love, respect, and peace.
As a parent/guardian/caregiver of a Bethlehem Lutheran student you agree that you will:
Support the educational objectives of Bethlehem Lutheran School, as outlined in the Bethlehem Lutheran School Student/Parent Handbook.
Support and follow school rules, policies, and discipline protocols, and support your child in doing the same.
Partner with and support Bethlehem Lutheran School in helping your child show respect for God, peers, parents, and those in authority.
Set an example in word and deed of respect for God, for Bethlehem Lutheran School teachers and staff, parents, and those in authority.
Assist students in punctual, and regular, school attendance.
Assist students in adherence to the school’s dress code, promoting a professional and respectful environment.
Refrain from abusive, threatening, profane, or harassing communication toward staff members either in person, by email or voicemail/phone or other written or verbal communication.
Speak highly of the school and school staff in public, this includes online behavior and the use of social media, and encourage your child to do the same.
Refrain from gossip and spreading rumors.
Follow proper channels for communication of issues and concerns by first going directly to the teacher and/or administrator as applicable so that issues can be dealt with fairly, appropriately, and effectively for all.
Seek to clarify a child’s version of events with the school’s view in order to bring about a peaceful solution to any issue.
Cooperate with teachers in instances where your child’s behavior is causing difficulty to others.
Read written communication received from the school and respond appropriately.
Communicate to the school any problems which may affect your child’s behavior.
Cultivate an environment of serenity, harmony, prosperity, and safety.
Seek to serve cooperatively and responsibly in support of Bethlehem Lutheran’s ministry, students, families, and staff.
Encourage and foster unity, Christian love, respect, and peace by modeling this to all.
Accept responsibility and accountability for your parental conduct.
Consequences of not following the Parental Code of Conduct:
1) Verbal Warning or Letter. Initial violations may result in a verbal warning or a formal letter from the school.
2) Parent Conferences. More serious issues may lead to parent conferences with the principal to discuss the situation.
3) Restricted Privileges. Parents may lose certain privileges, such as participation in school events.
4) Termination of Enrollment. In cases of repeated or serious violations, the school may terminate the enrollment of the child.
5) Legal Action. In extreme cases, legal action may be taken if the school’s policies are significantly violated or if there are concerns about the safety or well-being of students.
