There are a few ways in which parents can be involved in the life of Bethlehem Lutheran School.

We have a PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) which typically meets monthly to discuss ways in which parents can help support the students, teachers, and families at Bethlehem. Our PTO generally pays for all of our student fields trips so that families do not have to bear this cost. From the Back to School Bash in August to Staff Appreciation Week in May, the PTO supports many initiatives throughout the school year. None of this happens without parental involvement.

PTO does one major fundraiser, the Fall Festival, usually the beginning of November. This event relies on parent support in terms of volunteer hours and additional help in the weeks leading up to the event soliciting donations for the silent auction. On the evening of the event, parent volunteers supervise the games for students, sell tickets for the raffles, and help manage the silent auction. This one fundraiser will usually net enough money to fund the PTO’s initiatives for the year so that children are not expected to do other fundraisers during the course of the year. Plus, it’s so much fun!

Some classroom teachers may have a need for parent volunteers in their class. Parents who want to help in this way must successfully pass a criminal background check before volunteering.

Bethlehem also has a monthly parent prayer group which usually meets on the second Friday of the month from 8:30am – 8:45am. All parents are welcome and encouraged to support the school with their prayers.
